The King of Belgium has granted the Belgian Officier de la Couronne (Order of the Crown) to FIG Honorary Member Jan de Graeve. The Order was presented by The Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders on 12 December 2016.

At the high level forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, FIG was represented by Christiaan Lemmen. Focus was on land administration and management, with particular emphasis on sharing experiences, including benefits and challenges, considering fit for purpose aspects, digital land registers, cadastres, and other land data needs, demonstrating practical examples of land administration success stories.

Sharing Best Practices and Lessons Learned for Supporting Women’s Land Rights: A Debate on the Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC). From 25 January to 5 February, the Land Portal Foundation will be holding a debate on the Global Land Tool Network’s Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC), which were created to assess the effectiveness of land tools in supporting women’s land rights. The discussion will focus on sharing best practices and lessons learned for supporting women’s land rights.

Last October the young surveyors from Argentina had a great experience at the 5th young surveyors meeting where around 500 students participated from different states in Argentina and in this occasion some young surveyors from Uruguay participated.
