The Department of Geodetic Engineering of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is one of the oldest of the departments of the University, and has been the only department in Ghana responsible for the training of land surveyors at the tertiary level.

After about fifty (50) years of training professional surveyors, the Department currently has a total student population about 250 in the four-year BSc degree and the two-year Undergraduate Diploma programmes; the Undergraduate Diploma programme will be phased out next academic year.

MPhil research programmes are also undertaken in areas of research for which facilities and staff interest are favourable - notably GIS and GPS applications.
