Exploring GIS for Land Administration

This one-day technical workshop will explore ways that GIS can be used by land administration agencies to enhance their workflows. From using GNSS and drones for field data collection, to automating feature extraction from imagery with Geo AI, to managing parcels, and exploring property valuation techniques, there’s something for everyone! The topics will be covered at an introductory level, so no need to have extensive GIS knowledge or experience.

Draft programme for the full-day workshop:

  1. Introduction to GIS for Land Administration – 60 minutes
  2. Using GIS to collect/generate data
    • Field Collection – 60 minutes
      •  Ability to use GNSS to capture drone control and perform other surveying functions
    • Drones/reality capture – 60 minutes
      •  Demonstrate ability to capture and process high-resolution imagery
    • GeoAI – feature extraction – 60 minutes
    • i.      Extract features such as building footprints and roads from imagery
  3. Lunch
  4. Introduction to managing parcels – 60 minutes
    • Parcel Fabric - high-level capabilities with FFP/LADM focus
  5. Basics of storing and analysing property characteristics for valuation and analysis 60 minutes
