I represented FIG as a panelist in a plenary session on "Accelerating the Future Geospatial Ecosystem through Collaborative Efforts of Professional Societies" which explored the evolving roles and initiatives of professional societies and the opportunities and challenges of working together in an increasingly complex landscape at the Geospatial World Forum in Madrid.
During the plenary session, I shared the role of FIG - International Federation of Surveyors and how the activities of our ten Commissions are vital in accelerating the future of the geospatial ecosystem.
We discussed key initiatives aimed at fostering cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational collaboration within the geospatial industry, as well as the challenges we face in navigating the evolving landscape.
A key takeaway from our session was the importance of mentoring the younger generation. Supporting them in adapting to rapid technological changes is essential for building a sustainable and robust geospatial ecosystem.
Congratulations to the Geospatial World for the launch of the
Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure Readiness Index 2025 on 22
April.
