FIG WORKING WEEK 2023
CALL FOR PAPERS
28 MAY - 1 JUNE 2023
SIGNIA BY HILTON ORLANDO BONNET CREEK, ORLANDO, FLORIDA, USA
This Call for Papers
is announced both for peer review papers and
non-peer review papers.
The deadline for
submission of abstract and paper for Peer
Reeview is 15 November 2022 and 15 January
2023 for non-peer review papers.
4 days to go...
submit your Peer Review Paper
Deadline for the submission of abstract
and full paper for peer review papers is
Tuesday 15 November 2022.
The peer review is intended mainly for
academics, and these papers will go through an
extended double-blinded peer review process.
At least two reviewers will review your paper
and you will be requested to amend your paper
accordingly. At the second review the
reviewers make the final decision on the
paper. If a paper does not pass it will still
be possible to submit the paper as a non-peer
review paper.
Are you a practicioner, or is the peer
review process not applicable for you, there is
still time... Abstract submission of normal
papers is 15 January 2023 (with full paper
due by 28 February 2023). The abstracts for
normal papers will be reviewed by the ten FIG
commission chairs, and you will be notified in
February 2023 of acceptance.
One of the characteristics and a distinctive feature of FIG
conferences are that experts from all the different areas of surveying –
interpreted in the broadest sense including land surveyors, geospatial
experts, valuers, quantity surveyors, hydrography surveyors etc. – are
all represented. FIG brings these different surveying professions and
professionals together to enhance the cooperation and understanding of
each other’s fields.
FIG Working Week is an excellent way to get
to know the community and share your ideas and
the work that you are doing. You do not need
to be a chief surveyors or long-time industry
pundit to submit a proposal, in fact, we
strongly encourage first-time speakers to
submit an abstract.
The overall theme for the FIG Working Week 2023 is:
Protecting Our World, Conquering New Frontiers
As the world emerges from the grips of a global pandemic and
the renewed enthusiasm of in-person conferences, the focus of
the geospatial professions is becoming clearer. Our world and
the population residing on it needs our assistance in finding
better ways of sustaining our environment. This vision for
helping with making those changes are reflected in this year’s
theme for our Working Week and is strategically aligned with
the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as
adopted by the Member States in 2015.
The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) are located
here:

The FIG Working Week 2023, being held in Orlando, Florida,
USA, will foster an environment that looks at the world we
currently live in and help to create ideas and visions that use
the SDG goals for detailing new strategies to align with our
Working Week theme. The theme is intended to inspire surveying
and geospatial professionals to seek to expand our presence
through technology, experience, collaboration, and good will
for a better tomorrow. As our world and climate changes around
us, we aspire to leverage our knowledge base and tools for
measuring, monitoring, and forecasting how to improve the
outlook for our future generations.
Many topics covered by the ten (10) Commissions of FIG cover
areas that are directly related to the SDGs, so having our
attendees participate in submitting technical papers and
providing presentations on new and advancing ideas is key to
achieving progress towards these goals. The FIG Working Week is
an exceptional platform to discuss experiences, innovations,
best practices, research and much more to support the shaping
of the future. Read
