Back in Berlin for the large Intergeo fair

10-12 October 2023, Berlin, Germany

Three days in Berlin proved that the profession is as vibrant as ever. With almost 17,000 trade visitors and 571 exhibitors from more than 40 countries Intergeo presented itself as a magnet for the international geospatial community and for the diverse application areas of geodata-based solutions. The industry was excited to show their latest technology for the many attendees.

There was enough to study at the many booths in the four large halls in which Intergeo was held. FIG was again this year present with a stand as part of the "Verbändepark" - a large stand organised by the German association DVW hosting several German associations and organisation as well as CLGE and FIG.

The FIG stand was well visited by persons who already knew FIG and who came over to greet, which was very welcome and by others who had not heard about FIG before and who got a good talk at the stand.

A delegation of three from Ghana, Naa Dedei Tagoe, Samuel Larbi Darko and Stephen Djaba, came to promote the FIG Working Week 2024 which also gave the possibility to have some coordination meetings with FIG office, represented by Louise Friis-Hansen and Claudia Stormoen Pedersen.

Delegations from among other Armenia and Korea came to visit the booth. FIG was furthermore visiting other booths to inform about the work of FIG and the benefits of a membership of FIG and specifically to promote the FIG Working Week. FIG met with our two main media partners, GIM Magazine and GeoConnexion, too and with current members such as Trimble, Esri, Leica, Bentley and SuperMap. Our representatives from Ghana collected an impressive number of business cards, and now we hope to see some of the companies in Ghana (

On Monday 9 October FIG was kindly invited to the opening reception that was held at the Natural History museum, and it was fascinating to listen to welcome addresses and a panel discussion moderated by DVW President Rudolf Staiger with Jack Dangermond, ESRI, Boris Skopljak, Trimble, Katherine Broder, Hexagon and Barbara Ryan, World Geospatial Industry Council, among enormous dinosaurs such as a fantastic Tyrannosaurus rex" calledTristan Otto.
